Visionist was honored to be guests at the Health and Human Services booth this past Thursday and Friday at Health Datapalooza! We were doing live demos of our Take-Back America tool, one of the winning solutions from the HHS Opioid Code-a-Thon this past December. The tool helps the general public find locations near them where they can dispose of leftover prescription medications safely so that dangerous and addictive drugs don’t get circulated in their community. In addition, it also allows public health practitioners and community planners to evaluate whether these take-back site locations are properly positioned in order to be accessible by the most at-risk communities. This event gave us the amazing opportunity to show and discuss our tool with over 1,200 of the diverse Datapalooza attendees. We got valuable feedback from practitioners and researchers who are on the ground everyday trying to make a difference in this space. This experience gave us many new ideas and insights on how Visionist can continue to improve Take-Back America, as well as hopefully apply our data, engineering, and software skills to other aspects of Healthcare.
