For the second year in a row, Visionist Inc is excited to announce a partnership with North Carolina State University’s Institute for Advanced Analytics (IAA). Visionist is one of 22 organizations (along with Red Hat, General Motors, Volvo, Home Depot and the CIA) selected to sponsor a team of IAA’s students over the coming year. Chosen from a pool of 64 proposals, Visionist’s project, focused on predictive geospatial analytics using streaming data, was selected after being reviewed by a panel of IAA faculty who weighed the scope, challenge, and learning value of each project. This will be the first geospatial analytics project of its type for the IAA. Over the coming months, Visionist’s team of data scientists and engineers will collaborate with and mentor a team of IAA’s students as they develop new methods for geospatial analysis with the support and guidance of NCSU’s faculty.
In 2016 Visionist sponsored its first IAA practicum working with a team of students to create automated event detection algorithms for streaming social media data. In May 2015 the team presented their final algorithms to Visionist’s data science team and a group of government partners.
Founded in 2007, the Institute for Advanced Analytics is one of the nation’s oldest and most widely respected graduate programs focused on analytics and data science. While Visionist has many commercial partnerships NCSU is its first academic partner. Visionist’s team of data scientists and engineers are always looking for new ways to collaborate with academic institutions, companies, and organizations.
